Writing has not always been my strong point. Many times I have needed extra help with writing and developing essays for school. I have always struggled with being creative. My mother is a person that has been a mentor for me when I am faced with the task of writing. I know that I can always come to her for help. She is always extremely sharp at pinpointing my mistakes and helping the structure of my papers. Whether it is essays for scholarships, or for a high school English class, she will always push me to do my best when writing. While giving me new ideas, there were a few specific times in my high school career that she helped mentor me that would make an impact on my writing for the future. Someone with personality disorder not only effects the person with it but the love ones as well. Otherness Project Exceptional Learners I am deaf. I am at Starbucks. I want to order coffee. I have to do it on paper rather than out loud because I speak so poorly, I don’t like to try. I intend to write it down and show it to the barrista, but I am nervous. I don’t know if I am more nervous because I am not really deaf and I feel guilty or because I am different from the other customers and I will be labeled as disabled. I am not looking forward to placing my order. I order a medium decaf coffee by holding up a notebook with the phrase â€Å"Medium Decaf Coffee, Please.† The young man at the counter does a quick transformation from a confident good looking guy to a bumbling embarrassed guy. I go to the bathroom, and while I am sitting in there, (a restroom designed for just one person,) someone knocks on the door loudly a few times. Ordinarily, I would speed up or at least answer to let them know that I am in here and that I am aware of their need. Today though, I do nothing for I can not hear them knocking, and therefore I am not aware that they are even there. Normally, in such a situation, when I exit the individual restroom, I will pan the room with my eyes to see if the person is attending the restroom waiting for me to exit. I want to help them get their rest in the toilet. But today, I have no concern that they will think me incourteous. For, I did not even know that they had need of the facility. A song that I love comes on the radio, and it soothes my soul right at this moment like an angel; I drink it-- in one great big gulp. Not only are teenagers expected to make a decision on where they are going to potentially be spending the next four years, but they are also deciding who and how that is going to look like. Faustus, after twenty-four luxurious years on earth realizes that his time is up in this life. He knows that he has signed over his soul to Lucifer for an eternity of damnation and there is only one way to get it back. He must ask God for forgiveness and since God forgives all he will be returned to the world of the just. Still, he cannot say the words ?I am sorry? and receive God?s forgiveness. ?Stand still, you ever-moving spheres of Heaven/ That time may cease and midnight never come?(V, ii, 143-144). Instead of asking for redemption, he wants time to stop do that he may have more time on earth. He knows this will never happen, but he says it anyway. He believes that there is only one thing that can save him. ?See, see where Christ?s blood streams in the firmament!/ One drop of blood will save me. O my Christ!?(V, ii, 153-154). Christ is the only one who can save him now, yet he does not ask for mercy. In the last seconds of his life he almost comes to ask for redemption. ?My God, my God! Look not so fierce on me!?(V, ii, 194). Faustus is almost a true tragic hero up to this point. He wants to be forgiven, but without asking it. He is not forgiven, so therefor he is not enlightened and does not become a true tragic hero. Faustus resembles a regular man of good intentions, but he comes with a flaw that will cause his downfall into becoming a tragic hero, yet he does not complete all the criteria for being a tragic hero because he does not become enlightened. Faustus wants to be forgiven, but does not ask for it so he is not. He does not achieve the title of an Aristotelian hero because he does not realize enlightenment at the end of the story. Faustus has a fault and that fault is that he is too concerned with all that is worldly. Faustus is vain and he shows this when he receives all his powers. At the beginning Faustus is just a regular man, who went beyond all expectations to achieve his four degrees and his social standing. Faustus is almost an Aristotelian hero for h e had most of the traits, yet he does not ask for forgiveness and therefore is not enlightened. This is his greatest mistake.
